Our social jams are from 3 to 7pm at Dopp's bar, 1753 S. 68th St., West Allis, Wi All months except January, June, July and August. The association will be celebrating it's 50th anniversary this year on September 21st. It was formerly known as: Big Western Club of Wisconsin Inc. then changed to: The Country Music Club of Wisconsin, Inc. then to the present Wisconsin Country Music Association. W.C.M.A. The first social jam was held on December 3, 1967 at the VFW, 18540 W. National Ave. New Berlin, Wi. Curley Fields & the Kentuckians, featuring Kenny Knoll on steel guitar, was the first band to play the jams. The first President of the association was Al Seig. Christine Marks was the first Country Music Queen elected on December 3, 1967 in a contest for female singers to represent the association for a year. There are no dues collected. There are 13 board members. All shows are free and all singers, musicians and fans welcome to some great fun. Some of the Milwaukee icons that appeared at the jams back in the late sixties were, Billy & June Spaulding, Red Deacon, Les Martin, Joy McKay, Sonny Williams, Paul Duncan, Stony Calhoun and many more.
Our host bands play 1 hour (3:00 to 4:00 pm) then the jam starts. Each singer does 3 songs. Dopp's bar has mighty good food, drink and owner Tammy (a real sweetheart)and her staff are there to serve you. The W.C.M.A. board welcomes and thanks everyone for supporting the social jams and good ol' country & western music. Lets keep it alive. We hope to see you at Dopps sometime in the future.
